I am 11 years old and starting middle school this year! I love spending time with my friends and family, dancing, playing golf, and swimming!

Hearing Loss & Masks

I have hearing loss and I have worn hearing aids since I was 3! They help me hear better, but sometimes its hard when there’s a lot of noise, so I lip read.

I know masks are important to stop the spread of COVID-19, but masks have made it pretty hard for me and other hearing impaired kids to communicate. Did you know that masks can reduce the volume of a person’s voice by 4 to 12 decibels? That’s a lot! I have a lot harder time hearing my doctors, teachers, and others these days.

Bracelets for Masks!

There are masks that have a clear window so you can see the speaker’s mouth when they talk. My audiologist at Children’s Hospital said they don’t have them yet, so I’m raising money for them to purchase them! Every dollar earned making bracelets will go toward Children’s Hospital so they can get clear masks for their hearing impaired patients like me! My friends have been helping me make bracelets and we’re all really excited to help out a great cause!
